I was still recovering from my broken leg and spendng Thanksgivings and Christmas 2006 with the Lockhart Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3643. As their Worthy Chaplin I found this group able to providie a moral compass, fellowship, a group of wonderful and suppor be a part of a wonderful million member organization with an enduring legacy of good works in our community and our country.Â
At the time I was still staying with a friend due my lost my extra income almost RENT FREE for 3 monthsàliving on my disability check. As 2007 start with me spending another week in the hospital also having to move again.
I was so thankful when my ex-wife Clare and my path crossed. She shared a special kind of loveàmaking make my life so much richer. She had changed her rental into a duplex apartment were I now live.
Friends has offered all kinds of opportunities like a local Kindey foundation that gave funds for a 1993 car. I am driving a 1991 auto and it seemed I never had the money (or a significant amount) to replace it or for needed repairs.
Many groups and people like the National Transplant Assistance Fund have provided a free website, and other non-profi all very incredibly generous people giving assistance so they can give a tax deductible gift knowing all will go for my transplant and other related expensive not cover by insurance or a government program.
I know that each and every one of you face daily many challenges that weàmust overcome by God's help. Often for me it has only been by the aid of my friends and family I have been helped literally as they moved mountains that looked impossible.
